An unafraid effort by junior running back Roschon Johnson helped to guide Texas football to get a good win to round out the regular season slate on Black Friday over head coach Chris Klieman and the Kansas State Wildcats. New Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian and his squad got the win over Kansas State on Black Friday (Nov. 26) by the final score of 22-17.

This win for Sark and the Longhorns over Kansas State helped to snap a six-game losing streak, one of the longest in the modern history of the program. And this win for the Longhorns technically keeps them alive in the conversation to get a bowl berth in 2021.

Depending on how the rest of the weekend shakes out with other five-win teams, there are some bowl slots currently open that the Longhorns could make their way into. That all hinges on the standing for the Longhorns in terms of academic progress rate this year.

Roschon Johnson has a strong performance to help guide Texas football to a win in the regular season finale

The win for Texas over Kansas State signaled a potential turning of the tide for Sark if he can capitalize on this slight bit of momentum heading into next offseason. It will also be valuable for Texas to get the additional practice reps if they do manage to get a bowl bid this fall.

A win that was really gritty around the edges for the Longhorns over the Wildcats moves the record on the season to 5-7 (3-6 Big 12). While the regular season at least ended on a high note, there’s still a ton of work to do after a borderline nightmarish Big 12 slate for the Longhorns since the second-half collapse in the loss in the Red River Rivalry game against the Oklahoma Sooners.

Here’s a look at four overreactions from the Longhorns’ tough five-point win over Kansas State on Nov. 26.
