4 overreactions from Texas’ intrepid win over Kansas State
Texas will have the best backfield in the Big 12 in 2022
It almost feels outlandish to already say that there is one major position group for the Longhorns that will be the best in the entirety of the Big 12 in 2022. But when Texas has someone like star sophomore running back Bijan Robinson heading up an already deep position group for Sark, saying that this group will be the best in the Big 12 next year doesn’t feel outlandish at all.
In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Bijan returns as one of the top two or three Heisman contenders out of the Big 12 next year. He was definitely on pace to be a Heisman finalist before injury issues started to kick in and opposing defenses figured out all they have to do is stop him to get this entire offense to sputter.
The Baylor Bears were really the first defense to do that in a game where the Longhorns lost in Big 12 play. The Arkansas Razorbacks did much of the same in their Sep. 11 win in Fayetteville.
Yet, if Texas is able to return the trio that features Roschon, redshirt sophomore Keilan Robinson, and freshman Jonathon Brooks, this is going to be a really special group in 2022. Some of the explosive plays we saw from Keilan in 2021 show just how versatile and potent he could be next year.
And the way that Roschon put on a show for the Longhorns in this win over Kansas State goes to show how important he could be to this offense if he returns for one more year. Let’s just give an ode to Roschon here, who just had the performance of a lifetime to will the Longhorns to a win in the regular season finale.
Roschon finished up this game with a career-best 189 total yards from scrimmage on a whopping 31 rushing attempts, with nearly six yards per carry, and one rushing touchdown. He also had a dozen missed tackles forced and more than 120 yards after contact in this game.
