The one position group that the Longhorns need to close strong with in the 2022 class lies along the offensive line. Specifically, at the offensive tackle position, the Longhorns need to do well to round out the 2022 class. Texas doesn’t have a single true offensive tackle commit in the 2022 class at the moment either.

This is why it is definitely worth getting back in contact with the touted four-star Deer Creek offensive tackle and Oklahoma commit Jacob Sexton in the days and weeks ahead. Sexton was once a top target for the Longhorns 2022 class at the offensive tackle position, but obviously contact dropped off for the most part after he committed to the Sooners back in early July.

Now that Riley and potentially longtime respected Oklahoma offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh could be done in Norman, Texas has a potential window of opportunity to flip the commitment of Sexton. Since it looks like Bedenbaugh will be leaving Norman for USC more likely than not, Sexton’s commitment might be in jeopardy with Oklahoma’s 2022 class.

Texas does have some major offensive tackle targets left on the board for the 2022 class, including four-star Malik Agbo and four-star Neto Umeozulu. But it is definitely worth the Longhorns re-establishing the contact with Sexton to gauge his interest in potentially flipping to Texas ahead of the Early Signing Period.
