3 reasons QB Quinn Ewers should transfer to Texas

The news that was at least partly expected entering next offseason came down on the evening of Dec. 3 with the former Texas football commit and true freshman Ohio State Buckeyes quarterbacks Quinn Ewers. The former elite five-star recruit and Southlake Carroll High School product Ewers had multiple reports come out on Dec. 3 that he intends to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal this offseason.

While Ewers reportedly isn’t officially in the transfer portal as of yet, that looks to be the plan for the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex product. And it looks like the potential top schools for Ewers out of the transfer portal could be some combination of the Longhorns, Texas A&M Aggies, and Texas Tech Red Raiders, potentially among others.

The list of top schools obviously has yet to develop fully for Ewers in the public eye.

This is clearly massive news for the Longhorns, are who quite obviously seeking out quarterback help either via the recruiting trail or the transfer portal entering the offseason. Ewers landing in the transfer portal gives the Longhorns a potent target to go after immediately for help at the position in 2022 and beyond.

Ewers wound up spending just one year in Columbus before entering the transfer portal this offseason. It is likely the rise of Heisman contender and redshirt freshman starting quarterback CJ Stroud with the Buckeyes that caused Ewers to consider putting his name in the transfer portal in the first place.

Stroud emerging the way he did for the Buckeyes this fall confronted Ewers with a real uphill battle to get any sort of playing time in the years ahead.
