3 reasons QB Quinn Ewers should transfer to Texas
Potential Xavier Worthy connection
If Ewers does officially put his name in the transfer portal entering the weekend, then new head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns need to obviously get in contact with him immediately. The idea of what Ewers could do in this Sark offensive scheme namely with breakthrough star and true freshman wide receiver Xavier Worthy is mind-boggling.
I don’t want to harp too much on what could’ve been in the season that was for the Longhorns. But you have to figure that with a quarterback like Ewers and some reversal of luck late in game, the Longhorns would be in a much different spot than they are now.
Even with the mindset of only focusing on what lies ahead in 2022, there’s some real potential in the idea of making Ewers and Worthy one of the top young wide receiver-quarterback connections in the Power Five.
Worthy just registered more than 1,000 total yards from scrimmage and a dozen total touchdowns as maybe the best freshman wide receiver in the entire country this season. If he had a quarterback like Ewers looking his way, Worthy could only get better from here.
Ohio State has some of those speedy and elusive wideouts that can make plays in the open field, coming out of the slot or on the outside, like Worthy. Ewers has practiced and played with those guys for roughly one semester now. He has to know the value that someone like Worthy brings to the table, and that should be an appealing aspect to him about landing with Texas.
