As head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff host a good number of big-name prospects and commits for the 2022 and 2023 Texas football recruiting classes this weekend, there are some nuggets worth noting on the evening of Dec. 11. In the hours following the commitment of the elite five-star Summer Creek offensive tackle Kelvin Banks, Texas has received another notable expert 247Sports Crystal Ball Prediction in their favor for a different blue-chip prospect.

Sark and the Longhorns received an expert Crystal Ball Prediction on Dec. 11 for the former Florida Gators running back commit and four-star Winter Park product Terrance Gibbs. This could be a big emerging storyline for the Longhorns, who just saw the touted four-star Tyler-Legacy running back Jamarion Miller flip his commitment from Texas to the Alabama Crimson Tide roughly two weeks ago.

Getting another blue-chip running back commit in the 2022 class ahead of the Early Signing Period is a massive development worth noting. Granted, there are a whole lot of other dominos that need to fall before I would feel confident saying that Gibbs could realistically land in the Longhorns 2022 class in the days ahead of the Early Signing Period.

What’s interesting about this Crystal Ball in for the Longhorns is the fact that it comes from a recruiting analyst/reporter covering the Florida State Seminoles. Noles247 analyst Chris Nee was the one to put in this Crystal Ball Prediction that projects Gibbs to the Longhorns.

This Crystal Ball was put in with medium confidence from Nee.

Yet, the other development worth noting for the Longhorns this weekend comes from the fact that Gibbs was on campus in Austin for a visit. Inside Texas reported on Dec. 11 that Gibbs was on campus visiting the Longhorns this weekend.

This weekend was a huge one for Sark and the Longhorns staff in terms of the caliber of visiting prospects they hosted. Adding Gibbs to the visitor list was a late, and pretty unexpected, development to the weekend visitors for Texas.

Texas football gets visit from and a Crystal Ball for 4-Star RB Terrance Gibbs

Texas originally offered Gibbs back in April 2020. So his scholarship offer from the Longhorns didn’t even come from the current coaching staff. He also didn’t take any of his official visits to Texas prior to, or after, his commitment to Florida back on July 30, 2021.

Gibbs de-committed from the Gators after the news came down about the departure of their now-former head coach Dan Mullen. He officially de-committed from Florida on Nov. 30.

Really the last connection that Gibbs had with Texas, prior to this weekend visit, was when he put them in his top 12 that he dropped back in January. Texas was a part of his top 12 back in January that also included the likes of the Gators, Alabama Crimson Tide, Georgia Bulldogs, Ohio State Buckeyes, and LSU Tigers, among others.

Although, there could be a connection between Gibbs and some of the current Texas coaches that were on staff with Alabama when he was offered by the Crimson Tide in May 2020. Yet, it would appear that Texas running backs coach Stan Drayton would head up this recruitment a few days ahead of the Early Signing Period for the Longhorns.

Gibbs would be yet another blue-chip commit that the Longhorns could add to the 2022 class. He ranks as the nation’s No. 318 2022 high school prospect, No. 30 running back, and No. 39 prospect out of Florida (247Sports Composite).
