Predicting every commitment for Texas during Early Signing Period
Savion Red, RB/WR
Most of the prospects on this list I’ve talked about in some respect recently as likely additions to the 2022 class around the Early Signing Period. And the prospect on this list that I feel the most confident about the Longhorns landing during the first signing day is the former SMU Mustangs commit and underrated three-star Grand Prairie running back/wide receiver Savion Red.
Red is set to announce his decision on the first signing day at 2 p.m. CT. He is expected to decide between the Longhorns and Mustangs. Granted, the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex native is expected to pick the Longhorns unless something radical changes in the next 12 hours or so.
The only reason that I can think of as to why the Longhorns would realistically not get a commitment out of Red is if something changes with five-star Frisco-Liberty wide receiver and Texas A&M Aggies commit Evan Stewart and/or four-star Lewisville wideout Armani Winfield. That would change up the numbers enough in the 2022 class that it could leave Red without a spot.
Granted, since the Longhorns could want the 5-foot-10 and 210-pound Red to play at the running back position instead of wide receiver, it makes even the scenario of landing either Winfield or Stewart forcing him out hard to see happening. But this is definitely one to watch that is a key take in the 2022 class on the first signing day this week.
