Predicting Texas’ next 2022 commit during the signing period

On the second day of the Early Signing Period, head coach Steve Sarkisian has a pretty solid group in place for the 2022 Texas football recruiting class. As of the afternoon of Dec. 16, Texas has 27 commitments in the 2022 class. Five of those 27 commits in the 2022 class were hauled in since the start of the Early Signing Period, which began on the morning of Dec. 15.

The first signing day brought a lot of positive things for the Longhorns 2022 class. Texas started off the morning of the first signing day by flipping three commitments from three other Power Five schools.

And the first of the three commits that Texas flipped on the first signing day was the former Oklahoma Sooners pledge and three-star Arlington-Seguin wide receiver/athlete Xavion Brice. Texas was anticipated to be in the running to flip Brice from Oklahoma, though.

Texas football still working on a few key targets through the remaining of the signing period

The next flip on the first signing day, three-star Westlake edge rusher Ethan Burke, wasn’t really an anticipated target leading into the Early Signing Period. But Texas still flipped the hometown product from the Michigan Wolverines on the morning of the first signing day.

Then, Texas got its biggest flip of the day on Dec. 15 by getting the former Ohio State Buckeyes commit and the touted four-star Little Elm cornerback Terrance Brooks in their 2022 class. Flipping the commitment of Brooks was likely the biggest thing to transpire for Texas on the first signing day.

Sark and the Longhorns also rounded out the first signing day by landing commitments from the likes of three-star Grand Prairie wide receiver/running back Savion Red and four-star Todd Beamer (WA) offensive tackle Malik Agbo.
