Still very early on in the offseason for head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program, there are plenty of things in motion that are set to alter the look of this team for 2022. Texas has already added their apparent new starting quarterback along with a pretty solid 2022 recruiting class even before the turn of the calendar year.

Sark and the Longhorns just added the former Ohio State Buckeyes freshman quarterback Quinn Ewers out of the NCAA Transfer Portal ahead of the start of the Early Signing Period last week. As soon as the Longhorns added Ewers out of the transfer portal last week, it looked like Sark would have a tremendous amount of pressure on him right away to make him the starter.

But this looks to have cost Sark and the Longhorns the fellow former blue-chip recruit and redshirt junior quarterback Casey Thompson to the transfer portal. While it was expected that Texas was more likely to lose sophomore quarterback Hudson Card to the transfer portal before Thompson would put his name in, it’s not too surprising that either would want to leave.

Thompson laid it all out on the line for the Longhorns this fall, and the odds are definitely stacked against him to even start in any games on the Forty Acres in 2022. He looks to be ready to take his talents elsewhere heading into the offseason.

Here’s a look into four of the best landing spots for the fourth-year quarterback Thompson out of the transfer portal heading into the offseason.
