Terrance Brooks, CB

The real gem of a commitment that the Longhorns were able to flip on the first signing day is the former Ohio State pledge and highly touted four-star Little Elm cornerback Terrance Brooks. Texas flipped a whopping three commitments just on the morning of the first signing day. And none of them were bigger than Brooks.

Texas was working on flipping the commitment of Brooks for a number of weeks heading into the Early Signing Period. And all of that work finally paid off on the morning of Dec. 15 (the first day of the Early Signing Period). The departure of the former Ohio State defensive coordinator Kerry Combs certainly helped the Longhorns case in flipping the commitment of Brooks too.

Brooks might be the best and most intelligent cover corner in this 2022 cycle coming out of the state of Texas. Five-star North Shore cornerback and Texas A&M Aggies commit Denver Harris looks to have the higher ceiling of these two out of Texas, but Brooks definitely looks more ready to make some valuable early contributions at the next level.

What Brooks can bring to the table for the Texas secondary right away are some solid ball skills, tremendous length, an excellent ability to diagnose plays at the line of scrimmage, and a sure tackling ability in the open field. Most areas of Brooks’ game showed that he’s ready to make an immediate impact.

Texas fans should watch out for this talented 5-foot-11 and 190-pound DFW native corner to challenge for starting reps right away along with senior cornerback D’Shawn Jamison, sophomore Kitan Crawford, and sophomore Jahdae Barron.
