What head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football could want for Christmas this year was largely already delivered. Texas had about as good of an early phase of the offseason as it gets. Between landing multiple blue-chip commits at the biggest position of need in the 2022 class all the way to getting a commitment out of the transfer portal from the coveted quarterback Quinn Ewers, Sark has recovered in a big way.

Sark and the Longhorns do still have a ton of work to do, though. As exciting as all of the new additions are for the Longhorns early this offseason, this team still looks to be in a spot where work has to be put in.

Texas still has some positional needs to address in the transfer portal for the rest of the offseason. With at least four scholarships remaining among the spots on this roster in all likelihood (beyond what the Longhorns are going to sign among high school prospects), Texas still has to hit the portal hard.

At this point, the transfer portal is actually the way to make the most immediate impact on a program roster-wise. Head coach Mel Tucker and the Michigan State Spartans proved that during the regular season.

Texas basketball head coach Chris Beard proved the type of roster you can build-out of the transfer portal even within this same school, just with a different team. There is a way that Sark can start to round out this Longhorns roster out of the transfer portal this offseason.

With that in mind, here’s a look into the five transfer portal targets on the Longhorns Christmas wish list.
