This is where we get to the real meat of the list. Sark and the Longhorns have the ability to haul in a truly elite 2023 class at the skill positions. For that to happen, though, the Longhorns likely will need to get commitments out of the final two blue-chip 2023 prospects on this list.

The first up is the highly touted five-star DeSoto wide receiver Johntay Cook II. This in-state product coming out of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex could definitely be one of the early commits in the Longhorns 2023 class. Especially given the recent coaching staff turnover for the Longhorns, I actually think a recent hire could help this program.

Texas replaced the former second-year wide receivers coach Andre Coleman with the ex-Pitt Panthers wide receivers coach Brennan Marion. The official title for Marion with the Longhorns will be wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator.

Cook looks to be right in the Longhorns’ crosshairs now after the hire of Marion from Pitt. This could be exactly the type of jolt the Longhorns need on the recruiting trail to get a spark at one of the skill positions.

Although they didn’t stick in the Longhorns 2022 class, Sark and his staff were still able to catch lightning in a bottle last offseason during the winter months by landing commitments from two blue-chip wideouts. A similar narrative this offseason wouldn’t be completely unexpected. And if Texas could get a pledge from Cook, that is about as big as it gets.
