3 important 2023 recruit to watch for Texas in January
Ashton Cozart, WR
Cook and the four-star Flower Mound-Marcus wide receiver Ashton Cozart are, in my opinion, two of the most interesting targets of the Longhorns 2023 class at this position to watch in January. And it’s for much different reasons. Cook could be someone that the Longhorns start to lock down early in 2022.
On the other hand, the Longhorns could be seeing one of their bigger wideout priorities on the board for the 2023 class slipping from their grasp into the hands of a rival school. It looks like the Oklahoma Sooners are finding some real momentum of late with the blue-chip in-state product Cozart.

Cozart was pretty active on social media of late talking about a lot that has to related to the Sooners.
The first 247Sports Crystal Ball Prediction for Cozart also projects his commitment to land with the Sooners over the rest of the field. The last couple of picks in for the Rivals FutureCast also predict Cozart’s commitment to land with the Sooners.
Texas still sits in Cozart’s top six finalist schools. And the Longhorns will have to make a big effort on the recruiting trail to hang around with the likes of the Sooners with Cozart. Maybe the hire of Marion as the next wide receivers coach can do just that.
A few months ago, I felt much about Texas’ chances to eventually land a commitment from Cozart than I do now. But this one also doesn’t feel lost. That’s why January is set to be such an important month in this recruitment for Texas.
