Texas looking to get a visit from 5-Star A&M LB commit Harold Perkins
The twists and turns for second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian with the 2022 Texas football recruiting class have mostly come to an end since the conclusion of the Early Signing Period last month. There were a few key decisions to watch in terms of Texas targets in the 2022 class after the first signing period for this cycle, but there’s not much left at this point.
That is outside of one extremely major remaining uncommitted prospect on the board for the Longhorns 2022 class.
And that one top remaining prospect on the board for the Longhorns 2022 class is the elite five-star Bowie interior offensive lineman Devon Campbell. The extremely highly touted in-state product is set to have a National Signing Day decision next month.
Moreover, there is another prospect that has some looming storylines worth watching for the Longhorns. A fellow elite five-star in-state prospect and Texas A&M Aggies linebacker commit hailing out of Cy Park High School, Harold Perkins is still taking some visits before he officially signs his National Letter of Intent next month.
Texas football could reportedly host 5-Star Texas A&M LB commit Harold Perkins on a visit soon
During the holiday weekend, Perkins took an official visit with new head coach Billy Napier and the Florida Gators. And it looks like there could still be a visit that could get on the books with new head coach Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers before it’s all said and done with Perkins’ recruitment.
One more interesting visit could be in line for Perkins too. According to a report from Inside Texas (part of the On3 Network, paid content) this weekend, Perkins is potentially looking to take a visit to Texas in the next couple of weeks.
We talked about earlier in the weekend the fact that the Longhorns staff was still keeping the line of communication open with Perkins. And while this is going to be very slim odds for Texas to move the needle with Perkins, it’s important to know that there is still a door open here to some degree.
Perkins is still vetting his options, and the Texas staff will continue to push until he officially shuts down his recruitment and gets ready to sign his letter of intent.
Texas still has a solid group in place for their 2022 class at this point. After a successful run through the first signing period last month, Texas now has 27 signees and 28 commitments in the 2022 class.
