The focal point for second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program for the last few weeks remained on what happened for this staff in the NCAA Transfer Portal. While Texas certainly came out of the period from the last few weeks during this big wave of entrants in the transfer portal with some wins, there are still various positional needs to address on this roster.

Sark and the Longhorns added three key players out of the transfer portal so far this offseason. The first came early last month in the form of the former elite five-star recruit and Ohio State Buckeyes freshman quarterback Quinn Ewers. Unless some superstar puts his name in the portal and lands in Austin, Ewers is going to be the biggest addition this offseason for the Longhorns.

The second of two portal additions last month was another fellow former Buckeye and redshirt freshman cornerback Ryan Watts. Texas did get to address a need in the secondary by adding Watts. He brings some pop and versatility to this defensive backfield.

Moreover, the third and most recent portal addition for the Longhorns came over the weekend in the former Alabama Crimson Tide junior tight end Jahleel Billingsley. Texas got to address another positional need during the holiday weekend, especially after losing fellow junior tight end Jared Wiley to the portal earlier this month, by landing Billingsley.

But what lies ahead for the Longhorns will be largely dependent on their remaining positional needs. Some needs to watch include safety, edge rusher, interior offensive lineman, and wide receiver. Linebacker could also be another area for the staff to address.

With that in mind, here’s a look into three new transfer portal entrants this week that Texas should be going after.
