Texas flips Wyoming transfer WR Isaiah Neyor from Tennessee
What looks to be a really tremendous get for second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and new wide receivers coach Brennan Marion for the Texas football program arrived courtesy of the NCAA Transfer Portal on Jan. 20. Texas was able to flip the commitment out of the transfer portal of the former Wyoming Cowboys breakthrough stud redshirt freshman wide receiver Isaiah Neyor from head coach Josh Heupel and the Tennessee Volunteers.
Neyor originally gave his commitment to the Vols nearly two weeks ago after getting offers from the likes of Tennessee, Texas, and the USC Trojans, among a few other schools. He did seriously consider Texas at first but would wind up committing to Tennessee more than 10 days ago.
But he never officially signed his National Letter of Intent to play for and enroll at Tennessee. He waited a while to visit Texas and the Ole Miss Rebels this week. And that resulted in Tennessee ultimately losing his commitment to Texas.

Texas football flips former Wyoming WR Isaiah Neyor from Tennessee
Neyor announced on his Twitter timeline on the morning of Jan. 20 that he would be flipping his commitment out of the portal from Tennessee to Texas. That came just after the news came down this week that he would be visiting the Longhorns.
This is big for Texas considering the help that the coaching staff was openly seeking at the wide receiver position. More specifically, Neyor should provide a number of advantages to Sark and the Longhorns given all of the boxes he checks for them.
Neyor looks to have a bright future ahead with potentially four years of eligibility technically remaining including the COVID-19 redshirt season. He’s also a sizable 6-foot-3 possession receiver that can be a real weapon for the Longhorns on the outside. Neyor should be a nice piece to have in the starting group of wideouts with rising sophomore star Xavier Worthy and speedy redshirt junior Jordan Whittington.
Considering the fact that Neyor essentially fits a lot of what Texas was looking for out of a wide receiver in the transfer portal this offseason, this is a great pick-up for the coaching staff.
What Texas is getting out of Neyor is a second-year wide receiver that just had a tremendous redshirt freshman campaign to become one of the most productive players at his position in the Mountain West Conference. Last season, Neyor registered 44 catches for 878 receiving yards (20 yards per catch) and a dozen receiving touchdowns. He also added one rushing touchdown for a total of 13 scores responsible for last season.
Neyor led the Mountain West in yards per catch last season and ranked in the top five in the FBS. He led the Moutain West in receiving touchdowns and ranked seventh in receiving yards.
Texas had a very busy week in the transfer portal by landing both Neyor and the former Alabama Crimson Tide junior tight end Jahleel Billingsley. Sark and the Longhorns look to have most of their needs taken care of out of the portal on the offensive side of the ball now.
