Predicting Texas’ next transfer addition after WR Isaiah Neyor
Jaylen Moody, LB
Texas has already made it clear this offseason that they are prioritizing getting help at the linebacker position. That is why it is important for them to make the right evaluations with some key targets in the transfer portal at the linebacker position such as the former Alabama Crimson Tide senior Jaylen Moody and former Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns senior Lorenzo McCaskill.
The main reason why Moody cracked this list over McCaskill was the fact that the Longhorns already seem to have more traction with the former Crimson Tide three-star recruit. Moody also already has a 247Sports expert Crystal Ball transfer Prediction in place to land with the Longhorns over competing schools for him like the Arizona State Sun Devils.
Texas hosted Moody for a visit last week after showing initial interest in him after he originally put his name in the transfer portal. So, it looks like the traction between Texas and Moody was building in the last week or so. Given the familiarity with Moody from some of the former Crimson Tide coaches on the Longhorns’ staff, this fit could make a lot of sense.
The only holdback I would have on Moody is potentially waiting for a more productive and proven linebacker to show up in the transfer portal this offseason given the lack of scholarships that Texas has to work with the rest of the way. Moody would still fit a positional need that could help the Longhorns in 2022, though.
