Texas Basketball vs. TCU: Betting odds, TV, stream, pick
After a well-rounded performance for new head coach Chris Beard and the newly unranked Texas basketball team last weekend in a win over the Oklahoma State Cowboys at home, this squad is looking to extend their winning streak to two games. Texas downed Oklahoma State to avenge their loss to head coach Mike Boynton and the Pokes earlier this month by a five-point margin at home at the Frank Erwin Center.
And now, Beard and the Longhorns are getting set to take on head coach Jamie Dixon and the upstart TCU Horned Frogs on the road on the night of Jan. 25. Texas is carrying a record of 14-5 (4-3 Big 12) into this meeting with TCU following their win over the weekend against Oklahoma State.
Meanwhile, TCU comes into this game sporting a record of 13-3 (3-2 Big 12) following their upset 59-44 win on the road over the No. 15 ranked Iowa State Cyclones last weekend. TCU is also looking to extend their winning streak to two games if they top Texas on this night.
Here’s a look into the betting odds, game prediction, TV, and streaming information as Texas gets set to take on TCU on the road at Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth on Jan. 25, with tip-off time set for 8 p.m. CT.

Texas basketball vs. TCU prediction
This looks to be one of the better TCU teams that the Longhorns have faced in a few years. Sophomore guard Mike Miles got off to a hot start this season, scoring in double figures for the Horned Frogs in each of the first dozen games. But Miles has cooled off in the last three games.
The path to victory is pretty clear in this game for Texas. If the Longhorns can slow down Miles, they should have a good shot to win this game. In the four games this season where Miles scored fewer than a dozen points, TCU has a record of 2-2.
And in the dozen games where the Horned Frogs saw Miles register more than a dozen points, they are 11-1. The sole blemish on that record when Miles scores more than a dozen points came against the No. 1 ranked Baylor Bears.
Texas should be able to hold Miles at bay too. You would think that a player that has gone cold shooting from the field in the last three games, amid a plethora of turnover issues, shouldn’t be an issue for the top-ranked defense in the Big 12. But Texas has struggled at times with limiting explosive scoring guards (i.e. Oklahoma State’s Bryce Thompson scoring 20 over the weekend).
This is where the play of the senior guard duo of Marcus Carr and Courtney Ramey will come into focus. Ramey, in particular, is going to be a guard to watch in this game. It wouldn’t be surprising in the slightest to see Ramey often matched up on Miles. Carr will get that assignment at times too. But Ramey was the more stout defensively of these two guards since the start of Big 12 play.
Ramey was also solid for the Longhorns in the win over Oklahoma State. Despite a tough night shooting from beyond the arc, Ramey still finished that game with some solid defensive plays and a well-rounded stat line with 10 points and seven rebounds.
Another key player to watch for the Longhorns in this game will be junior standout center, Tre Mitchell. Following a nice performance in the win over Oklahoma State, it looks like Mitchell is back on track. He got the start against the Pokes and should do the same against TCU.
If Texas gets a solid night out of Mitchell and Ramey, they should beat TCU. Senior forward Timmy Allen and Carr will be an important part of this game too. But this feels like it will be a nailbiter any way you spin it.
