4-Star Texas S target Mikal Harrison-Pilot visiting this weekend
It’s anyone’s best guess at this point what the direction of the 2023 Texas football recruiting class will be for second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff. Texas does have one commit currently in the 2023 class, but there should be more to come in the weeks and months ahead.
Since Sark and his staff took over for the Longhorns in place of former head coach Tom Herman early last offseason, the momentum really came and went in waves on the recruiting trail. And that looks to be the case with the 2023 class this offseason.
There is something to watch concerning the Longhorns 2023 class this weekend, though. According to a report confirmed by Horns247 this week, Texas is set to host some key 2023 targets on the recruiting trail for visits in Austin during the weekend.
The Longhorns are hosting one target of the 2023 class that was long on this coaching staff’s radar. Four-star Temple (TX) safety/athlete Mikal Harrison-Pilot is one of the key prospects on the Forty Acres for a visit this weekend. Harrison-Pilot is a longtime target of the Longhorns 2023 class that the likes of the Arkansas Razorbacks and Texas A&M Aggies, among many others, are really pushing hard for.

Harrison-Pilot also confirmed via social media that he would be visiting the Longhorns this weekend.
The other key target of the Longhorns 2023 class that was on campus for a visit this weekend was the touted four-star Del Valle wide receiver, Braylon James. It’s worth mentioning that James will likely end up being one of the top targets of the Longhorns 2023 class among wideouts for this cycle.
But it’s time to really notice what the Longhorns are trying to do with Harrison-Pilot as his recruitment has heated up of late. There are more than a half-dozen offers that came his way since the turn of the calendar year. That includes the likes of the Oklahoma Sooners, Penn State Nittany Lions, Stanford Cardinal, and Florida Gators, among others.
Texas was in on the recruitment of Harrison-Pilot for a good while now, though.
Harrison-Pilot took multiple visits with both Texas and Texas A&M in the last calendar year. If Texas wants to win this one out, it will be a real in-state battle with some other SEC schools likely figuring into this mix along the way.
Texas found a nice wave of momentum on the recruiting trail for the 2022 class in the last couple of months. And that could turn into more success on the trail for the Longhorns 2023 class before too long once National Signing Day 2022 concludes next week.
