Knowing that the Longhorns have really started to piece together the parts of the roster to form an elite offense in the very near future, Texas should start be able to bring in some elite skill position prospects in the 2023 class. A key piece to that puzzle for Sark and the Longhorns 2023 class will be getting a commitment from the highly touted four-star DeSoto wide receiver Johntay Cook.

Building out a solid offensive line will help improve the entire offense for the Longhorns right away. If potent offensive linemen that signed with the Longhorns in the 2022 class such as Campbell and Banks are able to make an immediate impact come this fall, it will show some of the top targets for the 2023 cycle like Cook what he could truly be a part of.

At this point of the 2023 recruiting cycle, Cook has to be considered one of the top targets on the big board for Sark and his staff. Cook might also be considered the top wide receiver target for the Longhorns in the 2023 recruiting cycle.

Moreover, Texas looks to be in a good position at the moment with Cook. He’s had multiple successful visits to Austin by all accounts. And it looks like Texas should be able to get him to Austin for another visit by the spring.

Texas has a potent duo of top recruiters after Cook on the trail. New wide receivers coach Brennan Marion and special teams coordinator/tight ends coach Jeff Banks have brought a lot of energy to the table in the recruitment of Cook. This very likely could wind up going in the Longhorns’ favor with Cook when it’s all said and done with his recruitment.
