This spring, one of the biggest storylines to watch concerning not just the 2023 Texas football recruiting, but the entirety of this program is the pursuit of the elite five-star Isidore Newman quarterback Arch Manning. There is no bigger name to watch on the recruiting trail for second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff this offseason.

Manning is clearly the top priority for Sark and the Longhorns 2023 class as they try to build their group around this insanely highly-touted signal-caller. At this point, Texas doesn’t really look to have another top quarterback target in place for the 2023 class considering how much energy and effort they’re putting into the pursuit of Manning on the recruiting trail.

And it’s becoming clear just how many eggs the Longhorns are putting into the proverbial basket that is Manning’s recruitment. It is starting to look like the Longhorns are only really going to pursue Manning at the quarterback position among blue chips in the 2023 class.

Texas football could be reportedly waiting on a fall decision from 5-Star QB Arch Manning

A recent report from Orangebloods (paid content) this week indicates that Manning could be dragging the timeline of his decision out until later in the fall. In all likelihood, Manning is going to want to see how the college football landscape plays out concerning his top schools throughout the rest of the offseason and early in the fall.

At this point, it doesn’t sound like it would be out of the question for Manning to have a decision that stretches out until around the Early Signing Period in December. But it’s hard to tell just how exactly how his timeline will turn out in the fall.

The top schools at this point of Manning’s recruitment look to be the Alabama Crimson Tide, Georgia Bulldogs, Ole Miss Rebels, and Texas. You also shouldn’t count out the likes of the Ohio State Buckeyes and LSU Tigers as of yet.

Manning is the lone remaining uncommitted quarterback for the 2023 recruiting cycle that holds an offer thus far. And it doesn’t look like Texas is putting all that much priority on scouting out other quarterbacks for the 2023 cycle.
