Davante Davis, CB

The first former Longhorns player that was off the board in the 2022 USFL Draft was cornerback Davante Davis. Picked up by the Tampa Bay Bandits in the ninth round of the draft, eighth overall, Davis was one of the 20 defensive backs off the board.

Davis joins the Bandits after trying his hand in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos. He was signed by the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent following the 2019 NFL Draft. But he didn’t even stick around in Seattle for a full season before he would hit injured reserve and subsequently get waived. The Broncos gave him a tryout, but that didn’t stick either.

The 6-foot-2 and 205-pound Davis is a physical cover cornerback with excellent athleticism and physical tools. This could be an interesting opportunity for him to revitalize his football career.

Nick Rose, K

The lone former Texas kicker that was picked up in the 2022 USFL Draft was Nick Rose. Drafted by the New Jersey General with the second pick in the 32nd round, Rose was one of the final names called throughout this process this week.

Rose was the second kicker off the board in this draft. He is also one of the kickers now in the USFL that has a good amount of recent experience in the NFL. Rose spent two seasons between his time with the Washington Football Team and Los Angeles Chargers in 2017 and 2018. During that time, Rose went 11-of-14 on field-goal attempts and 33-of-36 on extra-point attempts.
