4-Star OT target Isaiah Robinson says Kyle Flood is ‘amazing at Texas’
The emphasis for the 2023 Texas football recruiting class to hit on top talent along the offensive line will still be there for second-year offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Kyle Flood. But with this crop of in-state talent along the offensive line not bringing the same depth to the table that the 2022 class did, Texas won’t have the same pressure on them to succeed in the trenches on the recruiting trail.
Flood and the Longhorns do still have a couple of key in-state blue-chip targets along the offensive line that are worth noting heading into the spring. And one name to highlight that is definitely a top target along the offensive line for the Longhorns 2023 class is the four-star Arlington-Lamar offensive tackle Isaiah Robinson.
Texas was the first major offer that Robinson received during his recruitment. It was former Texas head coach Tom Herman and his staff that sent a scholarship offer Robinson’s way. That came back in October 2020.
Despite the coaching staff turnover that came for the Longhorns in early 2021, Texas has remained a top school in the race to land the commitment from Robinson. Texas did do a nice job building this relationship back up with Robinson after the new staff took over last offseason.
In particular, Texas did a nice job forming the connection between Robinson and the former Alabama Crimson Tide offensive line coach Flood. And the fruits of Flood’s labor appear to be emerging as we enter the spring.
Texas football is seeing a fruitful connection develop between OL Isaiah Robinson and Kyle Flood
We got to hear about the relationship between Robinson and Flood from the recruit’s perspective since last weekend, though. After attending a combine at the Next Level Athlete Showcase in Dallas, TX, last weekend, Inside Texas was able to talk with Robinson.
Inside Texas got word from Robinson that he feels like “Flood is amazing” and that he “really enjoyed” his time on the Forty Acres during the Junior Elite Day more than one month ago.
But it is also important to note that it sounds like the likes of the Oklahoma State Cowboys and Texas A&M Aggies are still squarely in this recruitment. Texas A&M sounds like they are very likely to get a visit from Robinson during the spring.
This IT report also indicates that Texas could be in line to get an official visit from Robinson this year if they really push for that to happen. The same could likely be said for head coach Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies.
Robinson is one of the top offensive tackle offers for the Longhorns 2023 class so far this cycle. He would be a big-time get for the Longhorns 2023 class as he’s ranked as one of the better prospects at his position in the entire country, and he’s playing like it of late.
