Frontcourt comes through for Texas despite the foul trouble

We got to see what it looks like for the Longhorns to have their top frontcourt trio at this point of the season come through in a bright spotlight. It’s not often that the Longhorns got the trio of senior forward Timmy Allen, senior forward Christian Bishop, and junior power forward Dylan Disu come through in the way they did in much of this triumph over Virginia Tech.

Disu had some limited contributions for the Longhorns coming off the bench. But he was pretty efficient when called upon in this game. Despite shooting just 1-of-4 from the field, Disu still put up four points in limited minutes off the bench. He also came up with two offensive boards, one assist, one block, and no turnovers.

Meanwhile, Allen and Bishop combined to give the Longhorns 25 points nine rebounds (four offensive), three assists, three steals, one block, and two turnovers. They also shot roughly 50 percent from the field as a duo.

Allen was the main player in the Longhorns frontcourt unit, though, that came through when it mattered. While Allen only shot 4-of-11 from the field, he still registered 14 points, six rebounds, and two steals. He was big for the Longhorns in multiple facets of this game.

And all of this production for the duo of Allen and Bishop came while they had nine personal fouls combined. They both found foul trouble pretty early on in the second half.

In the first NCAA Tournament outing for the likes of Disu and Allen, they really put on a show throughout much of this game. If that trend continues, Texas could be a dangerous team in the East Region.
