Texas has a lot of question marks to answer along the offensive line in spring ball. An overall lack of depth combined with some really poor showings last season makes for a lot of uncertainty for this group in the trenches heading into spring camp.

But one rock that offensive line coach/offensive coordinator and the Longhorns can rely on in the trenches this year is the rising senior offensive guard Junior Angilau. As the most experienced, proven, and consistent returning offensive linemen for the Longhorns this year, Angilau is bound to step into a real leadership role in the weeks and months ahead.

It’s easy to see why Sark and the Longhorns really want Angilau to step up starting in spring ball. Texas needs to find some guidance and leadership in the trenches, on both sides of the ball, this year. And that is a process that started in winter workouts and will continue during spring camp.

Angilau is also set to mentor a lot of talented and inexperienced offensive linemen this year. Texas signed an elite group of offensive linemen in their 2022 recruiting class in the last few months. It will largely be up to Angilau to lead by example and as a mentor for this group of talented offensive linemen this year.

All in all, it goes without saying that Angilau will need to be a vocal leader and a leader by example in 2022. He’s too proven and capable for the Longhorns anchoring this offensive line not to be the rock for this group starting in spring ball.
