Texas Women’s Basketball vs. Stanford: Odds, TV/stream, pick
On the night of March 27, the two-seed and reigning Big 12 Tournament Champion Texas women’s basketball will be looking to continue their solid run through the NCAA Tournament. Texas head coach Vic Schaefer and his squad will be taking on the one-seed Stanford Cardinal in the Elite Eight on March 27.
To get to this point, the Longhorns defeated the likes of the 15-seed Fairfield, seven-seed Utah, and six-seed Ohio State in their first three games of the NCAA Tournament. Their last game resulted in a close 66-63 win over the No. 14 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes on March 25.
Texas had much more convincing wins in the Round of 64 and Round of 32 than they did over the Buckeyes entering this weekend.
Yet, this is the opportunity for Schaefer and the Longhorns to prove a point by potentially reaching the Final Four if they can top Stanford on March 27.
Moreover, Stanford comes into this meeting with Texas in the Elite Eight following a win over the four-seed Maryland Terrapins on March 25. Stanford also got through the 16-seed Montana State and eight-seed Kansas in dominant fashion in their first two games of the NCAA Tournament.
Here’s a look at the pre-game betting odds, TV/streaming information, and game prediction as Texas gets set to take on the one-seed Stanford in the Elite Eight on March 27 at Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena in Spokane, WA, with tip-off time set for 8 p.m. CT.

Texas women’s basketball vs. Stanford pick
This is a Texas team that has a ton of momentum at the moment. Texas hasn’t lost since Feb. 6, which includes an upset win over the Baylor Bears to win the Big 12 Tournament a few weeks ago. Through the first three games of the NCAA Tournament, the Longhorns have also looked really impressive.
One player that really stuck out for the Longhorns in the March 25 win over Ohio State was the Houston native senior guard Joanne Allen-Taylor. In their three-point win over the Buckeyes a couple of days ago, Allen-Taylor gave the Longhorns 17 points on an efficient 7-of-11 shooting from the field and a perfect 3-of-3 from the charity stripe.
If Allen-Taylor can spark Texas in a similar fashion against Stanford, this could wind up being a closer game than most anticipate.
Allen-Taylor and the Longhorns should also be motivated to put on a show in front of a national television audience on ESPN in primetime. It’s hard to quantify the opportunity that the Longhorns have to impress in front of a national audience to round out this weekend.
Stanford is considered the heavy favorite here with good reason. But Stanford’s win over Maryland on March 25 showed that the Cardinal can be taken down. Maryland gave Stanford everything they could handle until the final buzzer.
Expect the same from Texas on this night.
Texas can get their 30th win of the season if they can pull off the upset of the Cardinal on March 27. This will obviously be no easy feat. But this is still a more winnable game than most anticipate for the Longhorns.
