4 key recruits to watch in first Texas visit weekend in April
Anthony Hill, LB
By far the top linebacker target of the Longhorns 2023 class is the insanely highly-touted five-star Denton-Ryan product Anthony Hill. The nation’s top-ranked linebacker target feels like as much of a must-get as any defensive target of the Longhorns 2023 class.
Texas is in a good spot right now with Hill. But there are a number of other top schools in his recruitment that are also sitting in pretty favorable spots. That includes the likes of the Texas A&M Aggies, Oklahoma, Alabama, and USC Trojans, among a couple of other schools.
It really looks like this recruitment could boil down to four schools, though. Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Texas A&M are all very much in the running to win the race to land the commitment of Hill.
But we’re likely to see only around two or three of the top schools for Hill at the moment start to separate themselves later this spring and in the summer.
This is likely to be one of a couple of visits at least that Hill makes to the Forty Acres before the conclusion of the summer visit season. But Texas A&M and Oklahoma are also likely in line to get a couple of visits from Hill in the next few months. Texas A&M already got a visit from Hill that appeared to check a lot of the boxes for his camp in the last few weeks.
And it sounds like Hill is excited to make it back to College Station in the next few months.
Texas can take back the momentum in the race to land a commitment from Hill by making the right impression with his camp this weekend. The energy will definitely be high on campus this weekend with a plethora of blue-chip defensive targets of the Longhorns 2023 and 2024 classes set to be in Austin along with Hill. That should help their cause in their pitch with Hill this weekend.
