One of the top-rated wide receiver targets for the Longhorns 2023 class was also one of multiple key targets at the position on campus for a visit to Austin last weekend. The uber-talented four-star Langham Creek wide receiver Jaquaize Pettaway was definitely one of the targets to watch for the Longhorns 2023 class on campus over the weekend.

Pettaway could be a staple commit for the Longhorns 2023 class at the skill positions if he winds up landing on the Forty Acres when he announces his decision.

But we can’t get out too far in front of our skies on this one. There is likely to be a long way to go still in the recruitment of Pettaway before he announces a decision.

Longhorns fans have to give credit to new passing game coordinator/wide receivers coach Brennan Marion for the work he’s done on the recruiting trail to make a great impression with Pettaway in the last few months. Texas has really stuck out as one of Pettaway’s top schools of late thanks to the efforts on the trail from Marion.

Texas continued to make big moves with Pettaway over the weekend as it looks like there is some real traction with his camp and the coaching staff.

There will still be a dogfight on the recruiting trail between top schools such as the Oklahoma Sooners, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Texas in the race to land a commitment from Pettaway. But you can’t overlook the fact that Texas is in a better position now with Pettaway than they were just a few months ago.
