First up on the list among soon-to-be potential transfer portal additions for Beard and the Longhorns after landing a commitment from the former New Mexico State guard Rice is another guard that Texas is already connected to. The former TCU Horned Frogs and SMU Mustangs rising super senior point guard Kendric Davis has Texas as one of his finalist schools ahead of his decision, which is set to come later this week.

The reigning American Athletic Conference Player of the Year and three-time All-ACC selection is one of the hottest names in the transfer portal at the moment. And he recently narrowed down his list of finalist schools to seven.

The list of finalist schools also included the Houston Cougars, TCU, Kansas Jayhawks, Texas Tech, Memphis Tigers, and Gonzaga Bulldogs. It’s hard to tell exactly who has the edge at the moment, but the Longhorns seemingly sit in a good spot with him right now.

Davis is also reportedly looking to announce his decision on April 22, which is in just a couple of days. So, Beard and the Longhorns will know soon enough whether he ultimately lands with Texas or one of his other finalist schools.

Texas could certainly use a scorer as dynamic and explosive as Davis. The super-senior averaged a whopping 19.4 points per game last season while shooting around 44 percent from the field and 38 percent from beyond the arc. He also averaged around four rebounds per game, four assists, and 1.5 steals.

Davis would likely be one of the very best point guards that Beard and the Longhorns could find in the portal throughout the entirety of this offseason.
