Honorable mentions

Arizona State

I would definitely have the Arizona State Sun Devils and head coach Bobby Hurley among the top three potential landing spots for Askew out of the portal this offseason if not for how much they’ve loaded up via the transfer market already in recent weeks. Arizona State has already landed commitments from two guards out of the portal without losing any to the transfer market.

If that does change, though, I would say that Arizona State would immediately become a top school for Askew. That is largely due to the fact that going to Arizona State would get Askew closer to home and he has some ties to this staff. His ties mainly are with Arizona State assistant Joel Justus.

Justus was an assistant at Kentucky when Askew committed to the Wildcats out of high school. Kentucky had Justus as Askew’s primary recruiter throughout that process. This connection could resurface if Arizona State is interested in Askew this offseason.

UCLA

Another potential PAC-12 landing spot for Askew out of the portal could exist with head coach Mick Cronin and the UCLA Bruins. Landing with UCLA would obviously get Askew very close to home in the state of California.

The problem that could exist with Askew choosing UCLA is the fact that they are pretty deep in the backcourt and he could face a shortage of playing time out of the gates next season.

Memphis

The wild card on this list among the honorable mentions for Askew out of the portal this offseason is with head coach Penny Hardaway and the Memphis Tigers.

Memphis was one of the schools that pushed hard to land a commitment from Askew out of high school. And a lot of the coaching staff that recruited him are still at Memphis. With how many players Memphis could be losing to the portal this offseason, there would likely be an immediate shot at significant minutes for Askew in this backcourt unit.
