Arkansas State

One of the first landing spots that come to mind when thinking about the next logical destination for Bohanon out of the transfer portal this offseason comes in his home state of Arkansas. It makes a lot of sense for multiple reasons that Bohanon could land out of the portal with the former Tennessee Volunteers head coach Butch Jones and the Arkansas State Red Wolves in the Sun Belt.

That would get Bohanon even closer to home, as he is a native of Earle, AR.

But that is just one reason why it makes sense for Bohanon to commit to Arkansas State out of the portal.

Another major factor that could contribute to him landing with the Red Wolves this year is the fact that he would likely have an extremely clear path to winning the starting job right away. Arkansas State lost their leading passer from last season, Layne Hatcher, to the transfer portal earlier this offseason.

That could give a clear path to Bohanon to be their starting quarterback at least for the next couple of years.

There is also a connection between a lot of the current Arkansas State coaching staff and Bohanon’s camp. A good portion of this coaching staff was either in Jonesboro when the Red Wolves offered Bohanon or were with another SEC program. Bohanon has a lot of connections with coaches on this staff.

If Bohanon were to choose a non-Power Five program out of the portal this offseason, my first thought would definitely be Arkansas State.
