Minnesota

The Big Ten could potentially be a wildcard conference in terms of landing spots for Bohanon out of the portal. That is largely due to the fact that there were a good number of Big Ten programs that offered Bohanon out of high school that now have an opportunity for him to start right away in 2022.

One good example of a landing spot that fits this bill in the Big Ten is the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Minnesota does have a returning starter at quarterback this year in the rising redshirt senior Tanner Morgan. But injury issues and inconsistencies with his performance on the field have greatly limited the effectiveness of Morgan in the last couple of seasons.

Landing a commitment out of the portal from Bohanon could make a potential quarterback competition interesting for the Golden Gophers in fall camp this year.

What could also draw Bohanon to Minnesota is the re-hired Golden Gophers offensive coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca. After jumping around to a few different jobs in the last few years, Ciarrocca is now back with the Golden Gophers as their offensive coordinator heading into the 2022 season.

Ciarrocca was the primary recruiter pursuing Bohanon out of high school for the Golden Gophers. Now that he’s back with Minnesota and head coach PJ Fleck, re-establishing communication with Bohanon could be that much easier.
