Big 12 Football: 3 best landing spots for Baylor transfer QB Gerry Bohanon
Indiana
During his recruitment out of high school, one of the top schools for Bohanon was the Indiana Hoosiers in the Big Ten. Indiana got one of the final visits from Bohanon before he eventually committed to Baylor in their 2018 recruiting class.
But the fact that Indiana was likely one of the top four or five schools in the race to land a commitment from Bohanon out of high school makes them an interesting school for him now that he’s in the portal this offseason.
Another connecting point that could make the Hoosiers appealing for Bohanon in the portal this offseason is the fact that head coach Tom Allen largely has a similar staff in place compared to what he had in 2018. Some of the top positional coaches that were pursuing Bohanon at the time of his recruitment are gone now. But he would still be familiar with a good portion of Indiana’s current coaching staff.
It is worth noting that the Hoosiers already landed a commitment out of the portal this offseason from the former Mizzou Tigers quarterback Connor Bazelak. But Bohanon was better statistically than Bazelak in the last couple of years. He could help to form an interesting quarterback competition with the Hoosiers this fall if he landed in Bloomington.
Indiana might not offer as clear of a path to winning the starting job this fall compared to the likes of Minnesota and Arkansas State especially. But the Hoosiers offer one of the most familiar potential landing spots for Bohanon. And he could still realistically win this starting job over Bazelak if Allen still buys into what he brings to the table.
