What looks like the first of the three transfer portal departures for the Longhorns so far on April 29 is the former three-star recruit and rising redshirt sophomore wide receiver Dajon Harrison. It was early on the afternoon of April 29 that Harrison announced he would be entering the portal.

While Harrison was a part of the Texas program for each of the last two seasons, he technically still has four years of eligibility remaining. He has one year saved due to the COVID-19 redshirt year, and then another one since he didn’t take a single snap last season on offense or special teams.

Moreover, Harrison essentially has the chance to start fresh elsewhere. And it makes sense that he is seeking out another landing spot given the way spring camp went for him. Harrison didn’t look to be on the same page in the spring game last weekend with either redshirt freshman quarterback Quinn Ewers or rising junior Hudson Card.

Harrison was also originally recruited by the Texas staff under former head coach Tom Herman. New wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator Brennan Marion and Sark don’t really have any connections to Harrison back during his recruitment.

I would say that losing Harrison to the transfer portal is probably the least dire departure for the Longhorns among the trio of players on this list. Harrison was facing a real uphill battle in terms of earning live game reps at any point in the next few seasons. He also didn’t seem like a great fit schematically for Sark and Marion.
