Could Texas football target Jordan Addison choose USC this weekend?
It would be great news for second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian, new wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator Brennan Marion, and the Texas football program if one particular transfer target makes it through this weekend without announcing a decision. With the reigning Biletnikoff Award winner and former Pitt Panthers sophomore star wide receiver Jordan Addison set to visit with new head coach Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans this weekend, the Texas coaching staff will be anxiously awaiting anything that comes from him in the next 24-48 hours.
Sark, Marion, and the Longhorns hosted Addison on an official visit in Austin earlier in the week. Addison had a multi-day visit with Texas that went very well by all accounts so far. Texas did about all they could to try and make a big move with Addison out of the NCAA Transfer Portal.
Texas likely wanted to get a decision from Addison in the last few days before he was able to take any other visits. That was the best course of action for Texas to be able to ultimately win the race to land a commitment from Addison out of the portal.
What are the chances that Texas football WR target Jordan Addison commits to USC during his OV this weekend?
Yet, USC is now getting an official visit from Addison this weekend. And this might wind up being the weekend that ultimately decides the recruitment of Addison this offseason.
If Addison makes it through this weekend without a commitment being announced, though, that is good for Texas and one other competitor throughout this transfer process. Texas would still have a good opportunity to land a commitment from Addison if we make it through this weekend without a commitment to the Trojans.
The same could be said for the Alabama Crimson Tide, who are reportedly still expected to get a visit from Addison if he doesn’t commit to USC this weekend.
The fact of the matter is, though, that the Trojans looked like the odds-on favorites to nab Addison out of the portal since his name originally surfaced on the transfer market a couple of weeks ago. USC still looks to be in the most favorable position to land Addison’s commitment.
Thus, it wouldn’t be too surprising for him to come out of this weekend having announced a commitment to USC.
Texas has already added two scholarship wideouts and one preferred walk-on by way of the transfer portal so far this offseason. The two scholarship portal additions to the receiving corps include the former Wyoming redshirt freshman Isaiah Neyor and Alabama freshman Agiye Hall.
