Although there is no official start time in place yet for the Sep. 10 regular season meeting in Austin between the Texas football program and the reigning National Champion runner-up Alabama Crimson Tide, reports have started to pour in that there is one set at this point in time. Multiple reports surfaced this week (including from Brian Davis of the Austin American-Statesman/hookem.com) indicating that there is a start time set for this game of 11 a.m. CT.

The news was announced on May 16 that FOX will be the network broadcasting the Texas-Alabama game live on Sep. 10. And that sparked the reaction and further social media posts regarding how this game could be an 11 a.m. CT kickoff.

That certainly appears to be the case with all we’ve seen surfacing in reports and on social media in the last 24 hours.

Texas football fans start a petition over the reported 11 a.m. kickoff time vs. Alabama on Sep. 10

In response to the reports of the Texas-Alabama game reportedly having an early start time of 11 a.m., Texas fans have started a petition to get the game time changed. This petition posted on change.org is meant to get the kickoff time for Texas-Alabama changed to primetime. That would mean Texas-Alabama would take place under the lights at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in front of a national TV audience on FOX.

The petition is now a little over 200 that have signed, with the next goal being to get 500 signatures.

Here’s some of what this petition has to say on the matter of getting the game time moved to happen in primetime.

"Fans of both programs planning to attend September’s clash of titans can expect projected highs of 97 degrees Fahrenheit in Austin. Players on the artificial turf at Darrell K Royal Texas Memorial Stadium can expect field temperatures to exceed 105 degrees. Fans on the eastern half of the stadium facing west can expect the sun to be on them the entire game. Let me repeat that for emphasis. Fans facing west can expect the sun on them THE ENTIRE GAME."

This is certainly something that seems to have the fans up in arms. There is even one point in this petition that says that Fox Sports will be the “little brother” of college football broadcasting if they don’t move Texas-Alabama to a primetime kickoff.

The meeting between Texas and Alabama on Sep. 10 will be the first time that these two teams face each other since the 2010 BCS National Championship Game. It will also be the first time that these two teams meet in Austin in a full century, specifically dating back to 1922.
