Could Texas football WR target Jordan Addison announce this week?
The NCAA Transfer Portal target for second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian, new wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator Brennan Marion, and the Texas football program that fans have their full attention on is the reigning Biletnikoff Award winner and former Pitt sophomore star Jordan Addison. This rising junior stud wide receiver is the biggest and brightest star available in the transfer portal at this point of the offseason.
And it looks like Addison is now down to two finalist schools, which include the USC Trojans and the Longhorns. Coming out of last weekend, it was looking like Addison was also going to take a visit with head coach Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide, but that was never officially put on the books.
At this point, Alabama doesn’t really look to be a factor in the race to land a commitment from Addison out of the portal.
It was reported by Jordan Schultz of Yahoo Sports on Twitter on May 18 that Addison is down to just Texas and USC. We wouldn’t be talking about this too much if other sources hadn’t confirmed Addison mostly narrowing down his focus to these two schools.
But this certainly appears to be the case at the moment.
A report from Inside Texas (paid content) on May 18 indicates that Addison is down to two finalist schools. This IT report also points to a potential decision coming down from Addison by the end of the week. But it is worth noting this report still says a decision from Addison might wait until some point next week.
Texas football star transfer target Jordan Addison could be announcing by the end of the week
The sentiment surrounding the commitment of Addison remains that one will be announced by the end of this month. Schultz mentioned on Twitter on May 18 that he believes a decision from Addison will be coming “soon”.
At this point, you’d have to consider how the timeline of Addison’s recruitment out of the portal has played out in the last couple of weeks to be more favorable to Texas than originally anticipated. I’m not saying that the Longhorns are the favorite here, but they look to be in a much better spot with Addison than they were just a few days ago to a couple of weeks ago.
Marion, Sark, and the Longhorns staff and players have done a nice job connecting with Addison since his official visit to Austin last week. The continued communication serves as a reason to be optimistic for the Longhorns faithful.
In fact, it was within the last 24 hours that Texas star junior running back Bijan Robinson made his appeal on Twitter to Addison while the star wideout was about to narrow down his list of finalist schools.
There’s not an exact date and time to expect an announcement from Addison at this moment. But we will continue to monitor the status of his recruitment out of the transfer portal as it looks like Addison is getting closer and closer to a commitment with each passing day.
