The race is starting to heat up between top schools such as Texas football and the USC Trojans in the NCAA Transfer Portal for the reigning Biletnikoff Award winner and former Pitt Panthers star sophomore wide receiver Jordan Addison. Texas and USC look to be two of the top schools at the moment in the Addison sweepstakes out of the transfer portal.

Addison just got done taking official visits with both the Trojans and Longhorns in the last week or so. And considering the fact that Addison came out of each official visit without a decision in hand means that this race is likely tighter than most originally anticipated once his name surfaced in the transfer portal a few weeks ago.

But each side of the race to land a commitment from Addison out of the portal continue to try and make their respective case to win him over. That included an appeal from potentially the biggest star for the Longhorns and rising junior running back Bijan Robinson on social media on the night of May 17.

Bijan posted on his Twitter timeline on May 17 a message to Addison that said “come on home!”.

This is the first time we’ve really seen Bijan reach out to another skill position transfer target out of the portal directly on social media this offseason. But we already know that Bijan is involved in helping the coaching staff recruit Addison this offseason, so it’s not too surprising to see this post on Twitter from him.

Although, Bijan does tend to keep a pretty low profile on social media, especially when it comes to interacting with prospective recruits out of the portal. This just goes to show the significance of Addison to the Longhorns at this point of the offseason.

Bijan has also joined a lengthy list of big-name Longhorns players on offense that are pitching in to help with the recruitment of Addison. Texas also had other big-name players such as quarterback Quinn Ewers and star wide receiver Xavier Worthy make their respective pitches to Addison in person and/or on social media in the last week or so.

As Addison continues to mull his transfer decision over this spring, it looks like there’s ever-growing confidence on the Longhorns’ side. And while that doesn’t necessarily mean that Texas should be considered the odds-on favorite to win the Addison sweepstakes when his announcement comes, fans should be happy with where this team sits among his top schools right now.

It’s also important to note that the more time that moves along without an official visit scheduled for Addison with the Alabama Crimson Tide, the better the news is for Texas and USC. The word coming out of the Longhorns camp seems to be that Texas and USC are currently setting the pace in the recruitment of Addison out of the portal. But the transfer portal truly is the wild west this offseason and things can change in the blink of an eye.
