Johntay Cook, WR

Among the most recognizable and talented targets of the Longhorns 2023 class for a good while now is the highly touted four-star DeSoto wide receiver Johntay Cook. Texas is looking to start really setting the pace in the recruitment of Cook as we enter the summer months ahead of other presumed top schools such as Texas A&M, Florida, and Alabama.

One of the final two recruits on this list are definite must-gets for the Longhorns, but also doesn’t have an official visit on the books quite yet as of the afternoon of May 20.

Cook is expected to get an official visit scheduled with Texas before too long, though. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Cook as one of the many visitors for what is shaping up to be a massive visit weekend for the Longhorns on June 24.

The two official visits that Cook does have scheduled at this moment are with the Gators (June 3) and Michigan Wolverines (June 20).

Arch Manning, QB

The undoubted top target for Sark and the Longhorns staff for the 2023 class is the elite five-star Isidore Newman quarterback Arch Manning. Texas does look like they could emerge as the frontrunner in the race to land a commitment from Manning if they continue to make big moves with the elite signal-caller this summer.

At this moment, Arch only has one official visit on the books. And that lone official visit scheduled for Arch right now is set for June 17 with Sark, quarterbacks coach AJ Milwee, and the Longhorns. That is obviously going to wind up being a big weekend for the Longhorns, depending on when Manning is planning to announce his decision.

I would also anticipate Arch to get official visits scheduled with the Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama for next month. Texas, Alabama, and Georgia are presumed to be the top three schools for Manning right now. But Texas and Georgia do look to be setting the pace over the last couple of months.
