Texas football gets first OV scheduled for 5-Star QB Arch Manning
Big news arrived for second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and quarterbacks coach AJ Milwee pertaining to the top target for the 2023 Texas football recruiting class entering the weekend. It was announced on May 20 that the elite five-star Isidore Newman quarterback Arch Manning got his first official visit on the books, and it’s set to come with Texas next month.
It’s good to hear Sark, Milwee, and the Longhorns being the first to get an official visit on the docket with Manning. Since Texas was also the first school to get an unofficial visit on the books with Arch during spring ball, that is at least some level of indication of how he views this coaching staff compared to other top schools.
Manning will be visiting Texas during the weekend of June 17, along with his teammate and three-star Isidore Newman tight end Will Randle.
Multiple sources reported the scheduling of the official visits of Randle and Manning for the weekend of June 17, including Inside Texas.
Texas football is first to get an official visit on the books with both Arch Manning and Will Randle for next month
It also sounds like we will see Manning get official visits on the books with other top schools such as the Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide in the next week or so. Texas, Georgia, and Alabama are presumed to be the top three schools in the race to land a commitment from Arch at the moment.
Moreover, if Arch does officially visit each of his presumed top three schools next month, that would make it four visits for each frontrunner since last offseason.
It will be interesting to see if Arch does wind up taking his official visits with Georgia and Alabama prior to June 17. Texas getting the final official visit from him next month could be a big factor when Arch takes his trips to his top schools this summer.
Texas is also starting to look like the real frontrunner in the race to land a commitment from Randle. Texas is the lone school to have an official visit on the books for Randle for next month too.
Landing a commitment from Randle definitely wouldn’t seal the deal for the Longhorns to also reel in Manning, but it surely doesn’t hurt either. Randle and Manning are close teammates, and it was important for the Longhorns to get their official visits on the same weekend.
Texas currently holds commitments from five recruits in their 2023 class. But that number should start to really pop with Sark and the Longhorns staff building their summer official visit schedule around a lot of those prospects with summer decision timelines.
