While the Longhorns definitely added more offensive punch to the mix by landing Hunter out of the portal, there are still other options that can help bring more to the offensive arsenal for Beard and his staff. One option in this regard that could add another wing scorer for the Longhorns is the former New Mexico State forward Teddy Allen.

The brother of the returning super senior big man and former Utah Ute Timmy Allen, Teddy would be an intriguing fit with the Longhorns.

What Teddy could bring to the table for the Longhorns is another pure-bucket getter that shows he can heat up during clutch time. That is something that was often missing for the Longhorns at key points in games last season. Senior guards Marcus Carr and Courtney Ramey were losing options for the Longhorns in clutch time last season when they were cold shooting from the field.

Allen would add another weapon to make this Texas team even tougher to defend for some of the best teams in the Big 12, and around the country.

The rebounding and disruptiveness that Allen brings to the table on the defensive end of the floor would also help add to the already fierce defensive ability present in Texas’ frontcourt unit.

It’s fun to think about the idea of Teddy getting to play with his brother for one season in Austin. But that is also a valid connection that the Longhorns could utilize as a pitch to Teddy. The fact that he could play with a former New Mexico State teammate of his with Rice and his brother is a legitimate selling point for the Longhorns to recruit Teddy to Austin.
