Among the wideout targets that the Longhorns are hosting for official visits this month, one that I feel pretty confident about Texas leading for right now is the speedy four-star Temple athlete/wide receiver Mikal Harrison-Pilot. It looks like Texas holds the cards right now in the race to land a commitment from Harrison-Pilot.

Texas seemingly pushed all the right buttons for Harrison-Pilot during his official visit to Texas last weekend. And landing a commitment from Arch should continue to move the needle for Texas with Harrison-Pilot this summer.

It is blatantly obvious that the commitment of Arch moved the needle for Harrison-Pilot following his official visit to Texas last weekend. Harrison-Pilot tweeted out on June 23 “uh oh” in response to Manning’s commitment.

Moreover, Harrison-Pilot has already formed a strong connection with Arch in the last year or so. The speed and overall versatility that Harrison-Pilot could bring to the table as a slot or do-it-all wideout in this Sark offense is likely appealing for Manning to have in his supporting cast on the Forty Acres.

Harrison-Pilot was another recruit that got three expert 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions placed in favor of Texas following Manning’s commitment on June 23. Gerry Hamilton of On3 also placed a forecast in favor of the Longhorns for Harrison-Pilot after the Manning commitment on this day.

It’s clear that Texas made about as big of an impression on Harrison-Pilot as humanly possible in the last few days. If Texas wasn’t setting the pace in the recruitment of Harrison-Pilot prior to this commitment and his official visit to Austin last weekend, it certainly looks like they are now.
