Predicting Texas football’s next 2023 commit after Liona Lefau
Cedric Baxter Jr., RB
There isn’t a bigger recruitment that the Longhorns faithful are watching among official visits going on at a competing school on the recruiting trail than with the uber-talented four-star Edgewater (FL) running back Cedric Baxter Jr. with Texas A&M. Baxter is currently in the midst of his official visit with head coach Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies.
And if Texas A&M isn’t able to literally push all of the right buttons with Baxter and his camp this weekend, it looks like this recruitment will be Texas’ for the taking for the rest of the summer. That is if Texas continues to set the pace in this recruitment ahead of new head coach Billy Napier and the Florida Gators in the next few weeks.
Moreover, if there is one top recruit for the Longhorns in the 2023 class that was really impacted by the commitment of Arch to Texas, it was Baxter. He fits into a bucket with other top targets of the Longhorns 2023 class at the skill positions such as five-star DeSoto wide receiver Johntay Cook and four-star Temple athlete/wide receiver Mikal Harrison-Pilot among the blue-chips that were instantly impacted by the commitment of Arch.
New running backs coach Tashard Choice and the Longhorns did a really nice job making a great impression on Baxter and his camp during his official visit to Austin a couple of weekends ago. And if Baxter winds up committing to Texas in the near future, that would mean every single one of the official visitors on the weekend of June 10-12 will be in this 2023 class.
Lefau also officially visited Texas on that weekend of June 10-12.
