Freddie Dubose, WR

If there is one key target of the Longhorns 2024 class that Sark and his staff are trending for of late, it looks to be the touted four-star New Braunfels-Smithson Valley wide receiver Freddie Dubose. Texas does look to have an edge at the moment in the race to land a commitment from Dubose. But new wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator Brennan Marion will have to finish the summer strong on the recruiting trail with Dubose to really establish Texas as the frontrunner heading into the fall.

There is another factor at work here, though, that has seemingly helped Texas in this recruitment in the last few weeks.

The recruitment of Dubose is a good example of how Texas landing a commitment in the 2023 class from the elite five-star Isidore Newman quarterback Arch Manning had shockwaves across multiple cycles. Texas nabbing Arch in the 2023 class really looks to have moved the needle with Dubose this summer.

Texas can keep the momentum with Dubose going for the rest of the summer too by hosting him on a successful unofficial visit on the final weekend of July for the BBQ. Dubose is one of the anticipated 2024 recruits on the visitor list for the July BBQ in a few weeks to definitely keep an eye on.

The chief competition on the recruiting trail for the Longhorns in the race to land a commitment from Dubose heading into the fall looks to be the Oregon Ducks, Baylor Bears, and Texas A&M. Dubose looks to be high on Oregon since getting an offer from the Ducks last month. He has also visited Texas A&M and Baylor since the start of May.
