Texas Football: 2-deep defensive depth chart heading into fall camp
Now roughly two weeks from the start of fall camp for the Texas football program, the fans on the Forty Acres are evaluating what the roster and depth chart will look like for the upcoming regular season. Texas will begin fall camp on Aug. 4, and then the regular season slate is set to kickoff on Sep. 3 at home against Louisiana-Monroe.
Head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns do still have some position battles to get through this fall to pull together the two-deep depth chart ahead of the regular season opener. Texas will have roughly one month to figure out the two-deep on each side of the ball in fall camp.
We already evaluated the possibilities for the two-deep depth chart on the offensive side of the ball this week. Now it’s time to look at how the two-deep depth chart on the defensive side of the ball and special teams could shake out heading into fall camp.
Projecting Texas football’s two-deep depth chart on defense ahead of fall camp
The defense has a bit more uncertainty than the offense ahead of the start of fall camp. It will be important to see how the two-deep shapes up for the defense in fall camp as the non-conference schedule has some real challenges in the first three weeks of the regular season.
Texas is set to face the defending National Champion runner-up Alabama Crimson Tide and reigning Conference-USA Champion UTSA Roadrunners in back-to-back weeks to round out the non-conference slate.
