Eli Manning derides Arch Manning after out-juggling him
The biggest commit in the 2023 Texas football recruiting class is clearly the elite five-star Isidore Newman quarterback Arch Manning. Texas landed a commitment from Arch back on June 23, which has skyrocketed the stock of the 2023 recruiting class throughout the summer thus far.
Adding Arch to the 2023 class gives head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns a future cornerstone for this program to build around once this group of commits arrives on campus next year.
Part of the hype surrounding Arch is that last name on his jersey. While he certainly brings an insane amount of talent and potential to the table for the Longhorns 2023 class, Arch still carries that infamous “Manning” name with him that will add even more pressure throughout his football career.
Arch is the nephew of Hall-of-Famer Peyton Manning and likely future Hall-of-Famer Eli Manning. And he is the son of the third Manning brother and former Ole Miss Rebel Cooper Manning.
The Manning family is football royalty, and Arch will now carry the lineage as the next ultra-hyped-up quarterback in line to take his talents to college and then the NFL.
But it looks like Arch and his family are doing a good job of dealing with this massive spotlight without putting too much pressure or attention on Arch. The vibrant personalities of the Manning brothers and their experience in dealing with this spotlight themselves look to be translating to Arch.
Eli Manning jabs at Texas football commit Arch Manning after beating him in juggling
That was evident in a video that Eli posted on his Twitter timeline on July 26 showing off him beating Arch in a juggling competition. Eli also threw a joking jab at Arch after beating him in this juggling competition, calling him “Rookie”.
It’s clear that Eli might’ve found his next career path after his NFL playing days came to an end with the New York Giants a few years ago. He’s definitely gifted in juggling, as shown in this video he posted on social media this week. It also looks like Arch still has some work to do here.
Jokes aside, it’s good to see the Manning family finding ways to keep all the attention on Arch from being so serious all the time. This can help him have more of a normal transition between high school and college life. He’s also still just a teenager trying to have fun through this process.
But it is worth noting that there were some fun responses to this post from Eli on Twitter this week. One commenter responded by saying that it’s “cute” how the “former Giants QB and future Giants QB” were juggling together.
All in all, most signs throughout Arch’s recruitment have pointed to him keeping a level head. At least that is the message we keep hearing from those close to him throughout the recruiting process.
Arch heads up the 20 commits that currently sit in the Longhorns 2023 class following the addition of four-star Dr. Phillips (FL) offensive tackle Payton Kirkland. Texas is expected to host Manning on an unofficial visit for the July BBQ, starting on July 28.
