Arch Manning described as ‘masterful’ in second game of 2022 season
In the opening game of his senior season in high school, the elite five-star Texas football quarterback commit and Isidore Newman star Arch Manning looked really good. Arch completed 19 of his 22 passing attempts, good for 221 passing yards, four passing touchdowns, and one rushing score.
That special performance from Arch in Newman’s season opener on Sep. 9 helped to lead his team to a convincing 42-20 win over Riverside Academy.
Josh Preston of nola.com described Arch’s game on Sep. 9 as “nearly perfect”. Here’s more on what Preston had to say on Arch’s performance this week.
"The Texas Longhorns commit was nearly perfect, completing 19 of his 22 attempts for 221 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions. Two of those incompletions were drops, one of which would have been a touchdown, and he added one more score with an 11-yard touchdown run in the third quarter."
Arch was also mentioned by Brad Crawford of 247Sports on Sep. 10 as “masterful” in this 22-point win over Riverside Academy this week.
Texas football QB commit Arch Manning “masterful” in win over Riverside
He got to show a little bit of everything that he can do in this big win over Riverside. Arch had a few nice touchdown passes. But the highlight of the night for him was the elusive and shifty touchdown run he had that blew up on social media.
Earlier that same drive, Arch rolled out to hit his wideout on a deep pass. That play showed off his impressive throwing ability on the run. He’s shown time and time again that he can hit those tough throws down the field while scrambling out of the pocket.
Moreover, this win for Arch and Newman moves the team to a record of 2-0 on the season. Arch led the Greenies to a comfortable 35-14 win over Hahnville on the road on Sep. 2 in Newman’s first game of the season.
Arch is the top-rated commit in the Longhorns 2023 class, which currently has 22 pledges in the mix as of Sep. 10. He is the lone quarterback commit in the Longhorns 2023 class, which is going to remain the case through signing day.
