4-Star Louisville WR commit DeAndre Moore setting Texas football OV
A significant shift happened for head coach Steve Sarkisian and new wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator Brennan Marion regarding the wideout big board in the 2023 Texas football recruiting class. Texas missed out on the highly touted four-star Longview wide receiver Jalen Hale, who picked the Alabama Crimson Tide over the likes of the Horns, Georgia Bulldogs, and Texas A&M Aggies on Sep. 21.
The attention now turns to where Sark, Marion, and the Longhorns could find the final piece to the wide receiver recruiting picture in the 2023 class. There are some names that immediately come to mind when pondering the next wide receiver targets up for the Longhorns 2023 class after missing out on Hale this fall.
Some of those names include the touted and versatile four-star Temple athlete/wide receiver Mikal Harrison-Pilot and four-star LSU Tigers wide receiver commit Kyle Parker.
Although, Texas appears to have a renewed effort on the recruiting trail with a new target for the fall at the wide receiver position in the talented four-star Louisville Cardinals commit and St. John Bosco product DeAndre Moore Jr. Texas appears to be getting back in communication with Moore, which has resulted in a very notable adjustment to his recruiting timeline for the fall.
Texas football booking an official visit with 4-Star Louisville WR commit DeAndre Moore
According to a report from Mike Roach of Horns247 on Sep. 21, Texas is setting up to host Moore for an official visit to Austin this fall. Roach mentioned in this report that Moore will be on campus for this official visit at some point in the month of November.
That would either peg Moore for this OV to Austin on Nov. 12 for the matchup against the TCU Horned Frogs or Nov. 25 against the Baylor Bears.
This is a huge emergence on the recruiting trail for Sark, Marion, and the Longhorns as Moore is the highest-rated of the potential wide receiver targets that this staff could go after. Parker and MHP would both be tremendous pick-ups for the Longhorns 2023 class after missing out on Hale in the middle of this week.
But the insane physical tools, good hands, and fluidity that Moore brings to the table are evident. And I don’t really know how much of a drop-off there would be for the Longhorns between Moore and Hale if either were to land in this 2023 class.
Texas currently holds commitments from 22 recruits in the 2023 class as of Sep. 21. That includes a trio of blue-chip wide receiver commits in DeSoto’s five-star Johntay Cook, Spring Dekaney’s Jonah Wilson, and Aldine Eisenhower’s Ryan Niblett.
