It didn’t take long for the fans of the Texas Tech Red Raiders to show their true colors at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock for the matchup to open up Big 12 play on Sep. 24 against No. 22 ranked Texas football. Anwar Richardson of Orangebloods posted a picture of a video on Twitter on the afternoon of Sep. 24 showing Texas Tech fans around the entrance tunnel for Texas chanting “F— UT” at the team.

While this isn’t all that surprising, we definitely saw very quickly this weekend what it’s like to face the Red Raiders near the student section in Lubbock.

Texas is not a team that ever expects a warm welcome, but Texas Tech is still a different type of environment to play in for a team like the Longhorns.

Moreover, this chant from the Texas Tech fans ahead of the Longhorns taking the field in Lubbock on this day did get ripped by some on Texas Twitter. The chant was pretty quiet compared to what you might expect coming from the Texas Tech fans.

We’re sure to see the Texas Tech faithful continue to try and make this environment as chaotic as possible for the Longhorns for this game. Since this could be the final time that Texas faces Texas Tech in Lubbock as a member of the Big 12, the Red Raider fans are sure to make this a wild environment on this day.

If Texas is able to take down Texas Tech in this game, that would be the fifth-straight win in this series for the men in burnt orange. The last time that Texas Tech beat Texas came during the 2017 season when Kliff Kingsbury was still the head coach of the Red Raiders.

Last season, head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns got their first win of Big 12 play by dominating Texas Tech to the tune of a 70-35 win at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin.
