A huge weekend for the 2023 Texas football recruiting class lies ahead as head coach Steve Sarkisian’s team is readying up to host new head coach Sonny Dykes and the undefeated No. 4 ranked TCU Horned Frogs at home in Week 11. Texas has a massive visitor list on tap for this weekend for this high-stakes Big 12 contest in Austin.

One of the most notable visitors for the TCU-Texas game on Nov. 12 is also a highly-sought after priority recruit for the Longhorns 2023 class. The recent Texas A&M Aggies de-commit and elite five-star Denton Ryan linebacker Anthony Hill is one of the most highly-anticipated visitors for the TCU-Texas game on this night.

There is undoubted momentum that has formed between Hill and the Longhorns in the last couple of weeks.

Earlier this week, Hill announced his de-commitment from Texas A&M. And pretty soon after he re-opened his recruitment on Nov. 7, Texas started to trend for Hill.

Multiple recruiting analysts/reporters put in forecasts and/or crystal ball predictions projecting Hill’s commitment to Texas following his de-commitment from Texas A&M earlier in the week.

This all could be leading up to a perfect storm of sorts as Texas is hosting Hill for his first visit to Austin since the summer.

Texas football is “extremely confident” in its chances to land former 5-Star Texas A&M LB commit Anthony Hill

I would go so far as to say that Texas is brimming with confidence as Hill takes his first unofficial visit to Austin this fall.

According to a report from Hudson Standish of Horns247 on Nov. 12 (paid content), people behind the scenes on the Texas side are “extremely confident” in their chances to land Hill’s commitment when it’s all said and done.

There’s a feeling that Texas could seal the deal with Hill sooner rather than later. A win over TCU this weekend would go a long way to officially making that happen in the next few days.

If Texas can reel in a commitment from Hill in the near future, that could finish off linebacker recruiting in the 2023 class. Since Hill is clearly the top linebacker priority in the 2023 class for the Longhorns, Texas would also be getting an important immediate-impact player in the mix.

Texas is currently sitting with 21 commits in the 2023 class after flipping the commitment of the highly touted four-star Austin Westlake edge rusher Colton Vasek from the Oklahoma Sooners. This week could continue to see success on the recruiting trail for the Longhorns if Hill also commits to Texas in the near future.
